The deadline for regularizing meliponary in the State of São Paulo has been extended

today (27 August 2021) a new resolution was published (SIMA nº89) in the State of São Paulo extending the period stipulated in SIMA Resolution 11, from 03 February 2021, for the native stingless bee breeder to regularize the situation of his meliponary.

In May of this year, we made a post informing about the SIMA resolution nº11, which created the wild fauna enterprise category “Meliponário” and regulated authorization procedures for the use and management of native stingless bees in the State of São Paulo. In this post, we also instruct on what these authorizing procedures are and how the beekeeper must proceed before the resolution. The complete post can be consulted clicking here.

According to Article 1 of the new Resolution:

 ‘It is extended for more 180 (One hundred and eighty) days, from the publication of this Resolution, the deadline for breeders with a pre-existing herd of native-without-bees- -sting – ANSF require, via the Integrated System for the Management of Wild Fauna of the State of São Paulo – WINES, Authorization for Use and Management of Wild Fauna in the Meliponário category, and present documents proving the origin of the colonies and/or the Pre-existing Squad Declaration Term to regularize the meliponary and its squad, designated by SIMA Resolution No. 11, from 03 February 2021.’

The previous deadline that ran to the day 19 August 2021, now will be 23 February 2022.
